The 29th Annual Grand Illusions Sauté brought together laughter, inspiration, and community spirit for another unforgettable evening in support of Ohio Cancer Research’s mission to fund groundbreaking cancer research.
The 2025 event honored and “lightly sautéed” Ted Showalter, President & Owner of Whiteside of St. Clairsville Inc., celebrating his leadership and impact in the Ohio Valley. Roastmasters Michael Smith, Drew McConaghy, Lance Miller, and Liz Hofreuter delivered a lively and heartfelt tribute, combining sharp wit with sincere appreciation. Ted accepted the evening’s award with humor, humility, and a few good-natured jabs of his own after being presented the honor by last year’s recipient, Richard Lucas, President & CEO of Main Street Bank.
The night also featured moving remarks from Dr. Priya Dedhia, surgical oncologist and assistant professor at The Ohio State University, who shared the impact of OCR’s seed funding on her research into adrenal gland cancer, a rare and underfunded disease. Her story underscored the vital role this event plays in advancing early-stage, high-potential cancer research.
We are grateful to all who joined us for this special evening and helped raise essential funds to fuel the next wave of discovery and hope in the fight against cancer.
