Ohio Cancer Research (OCR) extends our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us or supported our 36th A Capital Valentine. It was an unforgettable evening filled with generosity, inspiration, and hope — all in support of advancing groundbreaking cancer research.
We were proud to honor Mark Swepston, CEO of Atlas Butler, with the 2025 A Capital Valentine Award for his tremendous contributions to Central Ohio. It was especially meaningful to have Angela Mingo, 2011 Honoree and VP of Development & Corporate Affairs at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, present the award and celebrate Mark’s impactful leadership and community support.
Mike Rosati, Owner and President of Rosati Windows, also took the stage to share critical insights on the importance of funding research grants, particularly during a time when federal grants for scientific discovery are being reduced. His message was a powerful reminder that OCR’s mission is more crucial than ever, providing the jumpstart researchers need to turn innovative concepts into real-world solutions.
The night also included the excitement of our Champagne and Diamonds raffle, generously sponsored by Meyers Jewelers, where one lucky guest took home a stunning ¾-carat diamond valued at $3,000. Thank you to Jeff Weisman of Meyers Jewelers for making it all possible! We were also grateful to have the vibrant energy of Yolanda Harris, Anchor at WBNS-10TV, who did a fantastic job serving as our emcee for the evening.
Because of your generosity, we raised nearly $200,000, including an incredible almost $40,000 in donations made that evening alone. Every dollar raised helps us fund innovative, life-saving cancer research across Ohio, bringing hope and new treatment possibilities to patients and their families.
Thank you to everyone who attended, donated, bid on auction items, and supported this year’s event. Your involvement directly impacts the advancement of cancer research, bringing hope for better treatments and improving and extending the lives of those affected by cancer.
We can’t wait to celebrate with you again next year and continue our life-saving mission!
