Breast Cancer

"The lifetime risk of developing invasive breast cancer is 1 in 8 in women in the United States and 20% of the breast cancer patients die. We are exploring strategies to reduce breast cancer deaths in the clinic."

Cancer Therapy

"Metastasis, the spread of cancer from the original tumor to other sites in the body, is the main cause of death in most cancer patients. We believe our research will contribute to the identification of new therapeutic targets to reduce cancer cell invasion and metastasis."

Be a Life Changer $10 Million Endowment Campaign

Give Today for a Cure Tomorrow.

Ohio Cancer Research (OCR) has traditionally awarded three to four researchers annually with funding for projects that can change lives. This nearly $300,000 in "seed money" provides young investigators the opportunity to support their new ideas with tangible data that dramatically increases their success in gaining national funding from other sources. So, $300,000 grows to almost $9.6 million (a 320% increase) to continue work on these vital projects!

For the past 30 years, national cancer research funding from sources such as the NIH has been on the decline. And since the research need greatly exceeds the funding available, many senior investigators fear we are in danger of losing an entire generation of scientists.

The $10 million OCR endowment will provide increased and continued funding for innovative reseachers to continue the quest for sustaining life after diagnosis and, ultimatley, a cure.

In order to reach this important goal, OCR is inviting you to Be a Life Changer.
